Car Loans

Friday, October 19th, 2007

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Eddie_Tobey]Eddie Tobey It is not often that a person buys a car without taking a car loan. Most car sales are completed with a car loan. When applying for a car loan, you have to decide on the car you intend to buy, keeping in mind your budget, the price, the type of car and unexpected maintenance costs. Then, find a loan you can afford. To do this, get quotes from all finance companies, and match them to your requirements. The best means of obtaining car loan quotes is by comparing the rates of used car loans, new car loans and car title loans offered by the different car loan companies. Compare the interest rates, upfront margin to be paid, and the pre-payment clause of the different loans from different companies. Also find out what the monthly payment is, the duration of the loan repayment, the percentage of the car price that is being taken as a loan, and any other incentives or discounts that the finance companies offer. You could use online car loan calculators to do this. Once you find the car loan that fits your budget and expectations, you can apply for it. Those with bad credit need not fret, as there are bad credit loans available. Whatever car loans you apply for you require certain documents, like your proof of income and residence, banking history, proof of identity, photographs and signature verification from the bank. When signing documents, make sure to clarify points that are not understood by you, to avoid future complications. Read the fine print carefully. Then you have to pay your down payment, and collect the car from the car dealer. When it comes to the Christmas Wedding Favours, think crackers, winter themed personalised mint tins and gold favour boxes finished with seasonal ribbon. There is so much choice and there is no reason why it needs to look tacky. Flirting: The First Step to Attract Romance For Women

Tuesday, October 16th, 2007

By Noelle Wong Many single people ask what the best flirting technique is. The best technique, in my opinion, is not a crude act that involves a man whistling to a woman on the street, nor a woman dropping a pile of books or papers in front of a man she has a crush on. Flirting is the art of getting the attention of someone who you are interested in for potential romance. The best way is to be elegant and simple, yet direct enough to attract someone to approach you, or have someone to be opened enough to be approached. Of course, it can also be fun. There are three steps to flirting. The first step is preparing yourself for it through dressing and grooming. Too often, single women give up on looking great all the time when they are single. Coco Chanel put it this way, I don’t understand how a woman can leave the house without fixing herself up a little - if only out of politeness. And then, you never know, maybe that’s the day she has a date with destiny. And it’s best to be as pretty as possible for destiny. Since youll never know when youll meet the man of your dreams, you definitely dont want to miss the opportunity of looking pretty when he comes. Honestly, do you really want to get anyones attention, when you do not look and feel gorgeous? So, wear clothing that makes you feel sexy. Now, there is a fine line between being elegantly sexy, and over exposing yourself. Think tasteful, rather than dramatically boastful. You should look like you have put in good effort, but not trying too hard. Some examples:  a dash of bright colour, rather than head to toe bright colour;  subtle make up that bring out your natural beauty, not scary vampy colours all over the face;  a dress or skirt that molds your body smoothly, rather than something that looks as if its painted on your skin. Throw out old, grubby clothes that do not serve you. Afterall, you do want to make room for new romance in your life. Start by letting go of clothes that do not make you look and feel amazing.Get a haircut if your hair is not neat and fresh looking. Your image should radiate sexy, healthy femininity. Second, dont hide in your home in your free time! If you want to attract romance into your life, you must be where people are. It can be participating in a speed dating event, singles tours, or joining a sport or hobby that interest you. Whether it is a place where people are deliberately looking for romance or not, the key point is to get yourself out where potential candidates are. Take action in either one of these ways: go to where the people are, or attract people to you by organizing an event yourself. Throw a singles party be creative. Third, make eye contact and smile! The point to remember is be open to communication. This is the hard part. Some women run away after making eye contact, before any real communication takes place. Stay right where you are. If you have done your dressing and grooming properly, this is not the time to worry about how you look. By this stage, you should be feeling sexy and gorgeous with your looks. Focus on your behaviour and listening skills, and find out whether this is your potential Romeo. Let him approach you, and let him speak first. Talk, but dont blab non-stop its a turnoff. Let him lead by impressing you with who he is. You are there to listen and observe, and inviting him to let you know who he is by your stance, gestures and eye contact. Keep the conversation flowing by listening to him with interest, and talking a little. At the end of the conversation, if you feel you want to see him again, and if you can sense that he wants the same, let him ask you out. If he doesnt initiate by asking you out, dont ask him out directly. Invite him to ask you out instead. Say something like: I wish guys like you would ask me out. Or: I have a movie I want to see for a while, but I need to find someone who is interested to see it with me. Or just give him your phone number, and let him take initiative. Encourage him to ask you out, do not ask him out yourself. If he gives you his number, do not call him. Say that you are much more comfortable being asked out, rather than being the initiator. Remember, being initiative is male. So flirting is fun, and anyone who can think can do this. Let me repeat the 3 steps to attract a potential prince into your life: 1. Dress and groom tastefully all the time, so that you will feel pretty and sensuous, ready to meet your potential man. 2. Be where people are, rather than cooping up at home. 3. Flirt by smiling and making eye contact; then letting him to initiate the rest. Every woman deserves to be romanced. Just as anything else in life that is worthwhile takes effort, the same with attracting a relationship. So do your part daily to attract the romance that you want in your life. The Probation Service in the United Kingdom

Friday, October 12th, 2007

By Thomas Gallagher Introduction The probation services play an important role in the rehabilitation of offenders. They are a service that is charged with the responsibility of addressing an individuals tendency towards criminal activities. This brief article will assess the mechanisms that the probation service has in place to achieve this objective. A brief history of the probation service will start this discussion. Following from this the aims and objectives of the probation service will be examined as this will allow the reader the opportunity of familiarising themselves with the ethos of the probation service. The mechanisms that are in place within the probation service will be considered next, with the discussion focal point centred on the various schemes that are in place to curtail individuals criminal tendencies. What happens if an individual is not happy with the service they receive from the probation service? The procedures that are in place for aggrieved offenders will be considered next. Finally, a brief look at the future of the probation service will be offered. The main aim of this article is to inform the reader of what the probation service is, and what is has to offer. History of the Probation Service The concept of probation, from the Latin word probatio, has developed from the practice of judicial reprieve. It originally entailed a temporary reprieve in English Common Law from the execution of a sentence to allow the defendant to appeal to the Crown for a pardon. The first known example of what might be termed as a probationary period, was seen to take place in the United States when John Augustus, a Boston boot maker, convinced a judge in the Boston Police Court in 1841 that he could help a convicted offender, a “drunkard,” and rehabilitate him by the time of sentencing. This is an example of probation in its infancy, as it is now a universally recognised mechanism to curtail re-offending. In the United Kingdom, a body was formulated in 2001 called the National Probation Service. This service was charged with the responsibility of overseeing the reintegration of offenders back into society. The aims and objectives of this service will now be considered. Aims and Objectives of the National Probation Service The aims and objectives of the National Probation Service consist of: Protecting the public; reducing re-offending; the proper punishment of offenders in the community; ensuring offenders’ awareness of the effects of crime on the victims of crime and the public; and, the rehabilitation of offenders. Once an individual starts their probationary period, they will be placed under a supervision officer provided by the National Probation Service. There are certain obligations that are imposed on an individual who is under probation. These obligations consist of staying out of trouble and telling your supervisor immediately, if you change your address or phone number. You must also be on time for appointments that you are given and let staff visit you at home. You must also adhere to any extra requirements ordered by the court and keep to any extra requirements on your licence if you have been released from prison. You will also be expected to fully participate in anything else your supervising officer asks you to do. This may be taking part in a one-to-one or group work programme. These obligations can seem somewhat onerous and one can imagine many instances were all of these requirements are not fully adhered to. If a probation officer feels that an individual is not fully committed to their period of probation, they may send the individual back to court or, if the person is on licence, send them back to jail. With the penalties being as severe as they are for not fully cooperating with the probation, there needs to be some form of mechanism that is adequate enough to give an individual an arena to voice their concerns if they feel that they have been ill-treated. The forms of redress will be examined next. Avenues to Complain Against the Probation Service There maybe various circumstances that an individual may not be happy with during their probationary period. You may have not been seen regularly and on time or you may feel that you have not been treated fairly and with respect. Maybe it is just that you had a request for dispensation to attend a special event. All of these can alienate an individual from the service and possibly push towards the road to re-offending. The National Probation Service has, in place, a procedure were aggrieved individuals can seek agreement over possible mix-ups concerning their probation period. It is recommended that an informal approach is made to a member of staff in order to sort it out unofficially. If this doesn’t resolve the matter, then the individual can make a formal complaint and, if necessary, appeal against any decision taken. If there is still no satisfaction, then an application can be made to the Prisons and Probation Ombudsman to carry out an independent investigation. With the high levels of re-offending still in existence, however, there has been talk of totally modernising the National Probation Service. The Future of the Probation Service There is a general consensus that the probation service is in need of modernising. This has resulted in a paper being published called Restructuring Probation to Reduce re-offending. It proposes: to give to the Secretary of State the statutory duty to make arrangements with others to provide probation services; and to create new bodies, replacing local probation boards, with who he may contract. The paper proposes replacing probation boards with probation trusts made up of business people, no longer including a judge, and accepts that contestability could mean a trust ceasing to exist. The National Association of Probation Officers is making it clear that these proposals will de-professionalise, deskill and destabilise our Service. We will fight these proposals in Parliament and if necessary we must be ready to take industrial action. Conclusion This article is not a warts and all expose on the probation, but merely a descriptive account of the role of the probation service within the criminal justice system within the United Kingdom. Its main objective is to inform the reader of what the probation service can offer and where a potential complainant may turn if they feel aggrieved by a decision made regarding their probation period. Marketing’s Magic Bullet

Thursday, October 11th, 2007

By Harry Hoover Hundreds of “consultants” make millions of dollars each year teaching seminars and boot camps, and selling newsletters about marketing’s magic bullet - that one simple thing you can do to fill up your register with virtually no effort on your part. People buy this tripe because they want “simple” and “no effort” ways to move their business forward. All those magic bullet consultants are wrong. I have the secret and I am going to share it, but you won’t be happy about it. My marketing magic bullet: focus, discipline and consistency. Yes, my magic bullet involves some work on your part. Focus requires you to define your audiences, learn about their behavior, and then provide relevant and believable information, communicated in an original, impactful fashion. Discipline necessitates developing a marketing plan and implementing it aggressively. Your plan must also include a sales element. I know businesses that market and then just expect clients to flock to them with wallets in hand. Unfortunately for these businesses, it requires some effort on their part. Sorry, no passive income. Finally, we come to consistency. This means implementing your program even after you are tired of it. And don’t change your message and marketing tactics on a whim. The race goes to the marathon man, not the sprinter. Some other smart people agree with me. Business Coach Brent Dees says, “You can do anything, but you can’t do everything. If you focus, you can accomplish your goals.” Friend Bill Loeffler used to tell clients, “We can’t do everything. Let’s pick three marketing tactics and do them right.” Remember: focus, discipline and consistency. Unlike those other consultants, I won’t bill you for that magic bullet. Lock and load. Beading Garments - Getting Started

Wednesday, October 10th, 2007

By Felicity Walker If you’ve seen someone wearing a beaded garment, then you may have been inspired to make one for yourself. Done correctly, it’s a wonderful way to liven up your wardrobe and have a collection of clothing that is unique and individual. But there are a few basics that you need to keep in mind when you’re getting ready to bead a garment. Fabrics Most fabrics can be beaded if you’re careful, but stay away from extremely sheer fabrics, or fabrics that are easily crushed, as it’s hard to press the beadwork. For beginners, it’s probably best to start with a knit fabric, such as rugby, double knit or fleece. These materials are easy to handle and more tolerant of error. If you choose a fine fabric, you may need to back the material with an iron on backing, preferable some type of woven interfacing. This will help to support the beading when completed. If you’re knit material, or anything that might shrink, it’s best to pre-wash the garment. It can also be a good idea to test your beads for colorfastness prior to using them on a garment. To do this, place a few beads onto a piece of thread and place them in a cup of warm water containing some mild washing liquid. Leave them for a few minutes, and then dip a white tissue into the water. If you see traces of color, you will need to use different beads. If there are no traces of color, the beads should be fine. Threads Use thread you’re familiar with, preferably one that doesn’t twist. If you have problems with twisting, run the thread over a beeswax block once, and wipe the excess onto a spare piece of fabric. Choose thread that matches the color of the fabric. The only exception would be if the beads are a strongly contrasting color - for example, black beads on white fabric might be better with black thread. Test first and decide which looks best. If you’re using sequins, then the thread should always match the sequins, not the fabric. Needles Use a good quality beading needle, usually size 10-13. A smaller needle is better if you can manage it, but you might need to make use of a needle threader. Check the size of the eye on your needle - you might prefer to use a needle of the same size with a smaller eye so that you make less of a mark if you’re using delicate fabric. Caring For Your Garment Once you’ve finished beading your garment, it’s important to care for it properly. Hand wash gently using a mild washing powder or liquid. Rinse the garment well and wrap it in a towel. Squeeze out the excess water gently. Dry it flat in the shade, and NEVER tumble dry. If you need to press your garment, make sure you never press sequins. For beads, lay the work right side facing down, with a towel underneath it, and gently press with the wool setting on your press. If you dry your garment carefully, most of the time it shouldn’t need pressing. Now all you need to do is find a garment, design a pattern with beads, and get started! Wii Exercise Experiment - Day 30 - 16.4 Pounds Lost and Final Results!

Monday, October 8th, 2007

By Tom Klimchak I have officially completed my 30 Day Wii Exercise Experiment in which I spent approximately 30 minutes each day playing the Nintendo Wii (mostly Wii Sports) while wearing a four-pound wrist weight on each arm. During this time period I also tried to eat a healthy somewhat lower calorie diet than I was used to. I also tried to walk at least 5,000 steps every day. Stats and Results Starting Weight: 269.2 pounds Ending Weight: 252.8 Total Weight Lost: 16.4 pounds! Average Daily Wii Time: 33.1 minutes per day Average Daily Calories: 1986 Average Daily Steps: 4619 Wii Fitness Age Low: 25 Wii Fitness Age High: 52 How I Felt After Each Workout At the end of each session I was usually a little out of breath, sweaty and moderately tired. I’d felt as though I’d had a good, healthy but not exhausting workout. Some days I struggled through the 30 minutes, but most days I was having enough fun that I barely noticed the time going by. This was the longest stretch of consecutive days I think I have ever exercised and I found myself actually wanting to play more than just the time I had allotted most days. Differences In Wii Sports Games Boxing and Tennis definitely require the most activity and definitely seem to burn the most calories. The action in both of them is fairly constant, with only a few real pauses in the action. Tennis volleys can go on for three or four fast-paced minutes and boxing only has a small pause between rounds and when there is a knock down. Bowling, Baseball and Golf seem to have too many small breaks in the action. Some of the Wii Sports training modes are short, but can keep you moving for short bursts of time. Wrist Weight Observations The wrist weights definitely made a large difference in my activity level. Four pounds doesn’t seem like much until you have to hold that weight up and swing it around for 30 minutes straight. I always tried to at least keep my arms at waist level and never just let them dangle. I could definitely feel a difference in my arms at the end of the 30 days. While I was initially fearing an increased chance of injury by “throwing out” on of my joints I soon found myself compensating and moving my arms in ways that didn’t thrust them out and risking a nasty case of “Wii elbow.” It’s really not much different than swinging a real bat or tennis racket. The weights really add to exhaustion factor of playing the Wii, especially with games like Wii Boxing and a few of the Rayman Raving Rabids games that require lots of very fast motion. I played a few tennis matches without the weights and found that I barely worked up a sweat at all. More weight would definitely mean a more taxing workout. I’m sure I could get a pretty good workout without the weights, but I would have to play a lot more than 30 minutes each day. Towards the end I found myself wanting to add even more resistance. Importance of Diet While the Wii does provide a good means for exercise and it is a lot of fun, I’m not sure how many calories it really burns. The wrist weights definitely helped me burn calories, but my lower calorie diet also helped with the weight loss. If I wanted to lose weight without modifying diet I really feel as though I would have to play for longer than 30 minutes each day or significantly increase the weight resistance. Playing Wii Tennis for 30 minutes while eating a Big Mac every day for lunch will probably not lead to much weight loss. Overall Conclusions Playing the Nintendo Wii, and especially Wii Sports, is a great way to get kids and adults alike to be more active and to burn a few extra calories. You get out of it what you put into it. If you jump around the room and wave your arms wildly and play for extended periods of time and even add resistance with weights then you’ll undoubtedly burn a lot more calories. Right now Wii Sports seems to be the runaway winner for getting people up off the couch and sweating to the Wii. People just naturally move their entire body when playing these familiar sports games. Most of the other Wii games I’ve played and read about require short bursts of activity with a lot of pauses between the action or very little real arm movement required. The fact that the Nintendo Wii can keep my interest through a tiring workout and keep me coming back for more each morning is a true testament Nintendo’s revolutionary and long-overdue view of the potential in video games. The Next Challenge I’m done with my 30 Day Wii Exercise Experiment, but I’m not done playing video games with the intention to lose weight and increase my health. I have some preliminary pieces of a larger project written, but that may still take some time to complete. In the meantime I’ll continue to blog about my own experiences of exercising with video games as well as other helpful videogame tips for losing weight. I still have plenty of weight to lose and plenty of games to play… Tom has struggled with extra weight and played video games for most of his life. It’s only natural that he would combine his interests in gaming and his desire to lose weight into something tangible and beneficial. He is currently working on a book examining the video game fitness phenomenon and how it can benefits millions of overweight people like himself. Pepper Mythology: Flavorsome Folklore

Friday, October 5th, 2007

By Eric Vinje Peppers, hot sauces and salsa have all played a part in folklore and mythology. Here’s a taste of what’s been written and passed down over the years:In astrology, Capsicums or chile peppers are considered part of the dominion of Mars, the ancient God of War.In the late 17th century, Fuentes y Guzman wrote that people who ate red peppers would be protected against poison. The ancient Incas, believing that peppers would be a disruptive influence, banned chiles at initiation and funeral ceremonies.Forget garlic, holy crosses and silver bullets. Chiles were often considered the best deterrent against vampires and werewolves. They were burned to protect against attacks from these creatures of the night. In addition to being a werewolf and vampire deterrent, hot peppers have often been used in witchcraft both to excise demons as well as ill humors from individuals. In many cultures, chile peppers are often seen as a way to ward off the “evil eye.”In Trinidad, according to the fiery-foods.com web site, East Indians wrap “seven red pepper pods with salt, onion skins, and garlic skins in paper” and pass it seven times around a baby to “remove najar, the evil eye, which is believed to cause unnecessary crying.”The same web site mentions that in the deep South of the United States, there is an African-American legend that in order for peppers to be hot, you must be angry when you plant them.Don’t let the bed bugs bite. Chiles have long been used as a fumigant for vermin such as bedbugs and rats.Jethro Kloss, quoting the “Standard Guide to Non-Poisonous Herbal Medicine” in his book “Back to Eden” writes that a peculiar “effect” of eating peppers is that if someone is “thoroughly saturated” with capsicum and dies in the desert “the vultures will not touch the body on account of its being so impregnated with the capsicum.”Even today myths and folklore continue to abound about the power of chiles. How to bring a Business Opportunity to Life: Getting a Loan

Friday, October 5th, 2007

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Philip_Nicosia]Philip Nicosia Youve found an excellent business opportunity, and are eager to act on it as soon as possible, lest that opportunity slip. However, you lack the proper funding to get that business of the ground. What can you do? One option is to borrow from friends and relatives; another is to go to a financial institution like a bank and apply for a business loan. The latter requires some preparation; after all, you will have to convince the loan officer that you have a good business opportunity and have the background and qualifications to make it work. Most loan officers will ask for details about the business opportunity, and how you plan to use the money to bring that idea to fruition. Its important that you give solid facts to back up your plans. You will present all of this in your business plan. If You are Setting up a New Business The business plan is when you take any business opportunity, and give it form and structure. It starts with an executive summary, which must state the amount you need to borrow, the kind of loan you plan to take, and a short explanation of the business opportunity you want to pursue. Aside from the Executive summary, you will also have to present some documents to support your request for a business loan. This includes, first and foremost, your financial projections. The loan officer needs to be convinced that the business opportunity has a good chance of making a good profit, which in turn will enable you to pay the bank back. Documents include your income statement, cash flow projections, and balance sheet. You will also need to establish your credibility and skill, as a way of proving that you have the expertise to manage the business opportunity well. Do include your resume or bio-data, references, and any information on your business partners. For filing purposes, you should also give your personal identification and social insurance number, a list of your bank accounts, your personal net worth statement (with a list of assets and liabilities), and credit references. This will help the bank evaluate your credit history, and determine how high the risk the bank will take in lending you the money. If you are Expanding an Existing Business If the company is already in existence, and you are getting a loan to expand it, you will also have to furnish a copy of the companys bank accounts and credit references, a complete set of financial statements from the last three years, current year to date financial statements, and accounts payables and receivables. You will also need to supply the loan officer with a company history, a background of the existing products and services you provide, and statistics that prove that there is a viable market for expansion. You may have to give industry statistics or research that support that the business opportunity exists and that your existing resources cannot sustain the possible growth. You may also have to submit a plan of how you will allocate the money and the projected increase in revenues.
